Hi! Welcome to this episode of Nerdz on Parade!

This is my Shuttle! I built this one awhile back, but recently had some overheating issues. Turns out that moving the IDE cable fixed that (The black one running next to the blue SATA cable).

Since then, it’s been running very well. I’m rather pleased with the whole setup.

The A/V switch actually goes into the TV Tuner on the Samsung so I can play PS/2 and pipe video in from the Zen.

In addition, you can see the rabbit ears in the background which would let us watch TV if we wanted to. I don’t see it happening any time in the near future, but in case of emergencies, it might be useful. The added load on my fnord circuits would of course be balanced out by the soothing lava lamp.

Stress level has been pretty high lately. Not sure if this has more to do with being off work or with the hilarious financial situations.

lol… just found the beeping noise that was keeping me awake. Kris’ cell phone… plugged it in… yay… now i’m sleeping. walking and sleeping.

Hrm… can’t decide if this looks cool or if it’s just bollocks. Of course I really don’t like Kevin J. Anderson either, so I’ve avoided all the recent Dune novels.


Speaking of Dune… this place reminds me of Arakis.

Thanks to all those who wished us well! We are home and Kristi is recovering very well.

Worked on a couple of things for the site, including an updated main page, new info on Kadmon, and my Dream Log.

I’ll be working from home for those who might want to contact me.

…I might not have an internet connection for long. Not sure what I can do about it at this point. We’ve gotten hit pretty hard several times financially and it doesn’t look like we’ll make it to the next oasis point. I’ll be off work for the next 6 weeks with my wife. By September we may have the kind of money we need to deal with this. September may as well be a million years from now, and right now we are scraping to buy formula for Lily. I feel as though I am the jade scarab being crushed beneath an indifferent god’s heel. There is no help for us, it would seem…

[Edit]: sold the truck finally. looks like we’ll be okay for a little while. enough to pay the bills for the moment. Huzzah! Long term plans are still shaky, but the situation is better.

Last night I dreamed that I was watching television and the program was describing a man who had been taken as a POW in a small Indian province that was ruled by a tyrannical drug lord. To make him talk they implanted a larvae in his shoulder, making a green ring with a white center, from which would hatch it’s full form: a jade cockroach scarab. I was really grossed out by this, and then stepped back from the TV and crushed one of these bugs.

I was actually going to write up a nice metaphor showing the similarity between our political climate and a person in the midst of a fight. It’s an interesting thought but feels too trite for a pre-coffee 6:45. Instead I decided to sit and think about things all morning and wasted my journalling time. C’est la vie. Fuggin’ month end…
